The day we landed in Chicago, after returning home from Austin, TX we made a stop at home, unpacked & repacked our bags then hopped in the car for a 3 hour drive to Peoria, IL. On St. Patrick’s day, the next day, we had scheduled to document some ❤LOVE❤, with an engagement shoot with Chris & Alex.

Chris & Alex wed on Sunday May 13th with a small party, gathered by family and close friends, in Peoria, IL. Congrats to this amazing couple, we can’t wait to help document the next big event.

When my two friends, both former co-workers of mine from Adlai E. Stevenson High School, told me they were engaged I was ecstatic for them! I couldn’t wait for their wedding day to come. I couldn’t have been more excited for the two of them.

Bob & Michelle wed in downtown Arlington Heights, IL and their ceremony and reception were close enough that they, and all who came to see them get hitched, were able to walk from the church to the reception in a little train of people from one location to the next. The weather was beautiful that amazing day last June and the sunshine was in full cooperation to provide them an awesome day to take photos outside and document their day.

On Tuesday January 10th, 4 month old Kix joined the Ceaser family. On the next day he had his first portrait shoot with me.

There’s a more detailed description of the entire process I went through with my family to adopt Kix, but the overall consensus has been that he’s a perfect addition to the family.

I had a great time shooting him in the comfort of his new home. Kix was comfortable with the camera, played with his toys, posed for me and even chased his tale in the time we spent together.

The day before my sister Amanda moved to Montana, after graduating college in June, my mom said she wanted an updated photo of all of her daughters. We took some pictures together the night before she was leaving and we were all pretty tired so they didn’t really turn out very frame-worthy.

When Amanda booked her flight to come in to visit for a week during Christmas I told her I wanted to do a photo shoot to give photos to my mom. We snuck Hannah out of the house, I did her hair and Jeff grabbed his camera. Originally I was thinking of doing some fun shots at the 50′s ice cream shop but we wound up shooting all around downtown Bensenville, the town where we grew up.

Hannah, Amanda & I may have similar features but you can tell from the jumping shot that we have very different styles choices and really we just love to laugh & have fun together.

Mid November, a few days after the first short & quick snowfall in the Chicagoland area, we had a fall photo shoot. It felt like we were slightly tempting fate and racing against time wondering if the fall colors would still be around, but it turned out to be a beautiful fall day with the rain staying away and the leaves remaining on the trees.

It turned out to be the perfect day for a portrait shoot with this adorable little girl.

Our cameras must be partial to little girls named Maddie because we had back-to-back sessions with two incredibly cute little girls of the same name. This Maddie is part of the Boys family who we had a fall family photo shoot with in St. Charles, IL.

We were afraid we’d have to reschedule due to rain as the fall weather had been unpredictable, but we lucked out. Other than some overzealous gusts of wind, all in all it turned out to be a great day. The Boys family was wonderful to work with, they were all very open to our ideas and they even happily played along when we made them get in real close

As we were shooting Larry was running around with his granddaughter Maddie between shots and even helped us carry the stools that we brought – joking around when we asked him and Terry to sit in them instead of their kids. We had a fun time.

We first met Larry & Terry at Mike & Sarah Kelly’s wedding where Larry went out of his way to compliment me and tell me that I looked like Salma Hayek.

How could anyone forget that? I sure didn’t.

Then at the end of the evening they asked for our information and Jennifer, Larry’s daughter, contacted us a few months later to plan their family portrait session.

Just two weeks after spending some time with the Boys family we received awful news that Larry (husband, father, grandfather and dear friend to many) had suddenly passed away. It’s surreal to think that we were just with Larry and taking these photos of his loving family and now he’s so suddenly passed on. Jeff & I are extremely saddened at the sudden loss of such a great man, but we truly appreciate the time that we were able to spend with him and his family on that windy fall day. It’s a day that we will never forget.

During this fall family shoot we had the opportunity to hang out with the wonderful Gardner family, Brian, Shelly & Zach. It’s always nice to see Brian so it was an extra special treat to meet the rest of his family.

While out on our shoot with Joel Runyon we had the inclination to do a series of promotional videos to coincide with the launch of his new Impossible T-Shirts. Unfortunately the extremely impromptu nature of the video shoot meant that we didn’t have any gear with us (the audio shows it’s just a bit windy in Chicago, who knew?!) but the silly nature of the videos actually lend to the imperfection
